This Tuesday marked the 15th anniversary of National Aboriginal Day. National Aboriginal Day was first established in 1996 by then-Governor General Romeo LeBlanc, who, in a speech to mark the occasion, said the following: “On June 21st, this year and every year, Canada will honour the native peoples who first brought humanity to this great land. And may the first peoples of our past always be full and proud partners in our future.”
The Macdonald-Cartier Society is proud to celebrate this continued recognition of Canada’s history and culture.
