Statement for National Acadian Day

Yesterday marked the celebration of National Acadian Day, which recognizes and salutes the hard work and sacrifice of some of the earliest pioneers of our country – particularly in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec.
When celebrating Acadian heritage, we should also celebrate their customs, traditions and way of life, which have become a distinctive part of Canada’s social fabric. Ensuring that Acadian communities have a bright future remains an integral part of a prosperous Canadian society.
In the coming weeks and months, our organization will reach out and consult with young Acadians about their vision of Canada.
