Founder Immanuel Giulea to Speak at Roadmap 2030
Executive Director of youth-led organization to participate in democratic engagement panel
TORONTO, ON. October 19, 2011 – The Société Macdonald-Cartier Society is please to announce that Immanuel Giulea, founder and Executive Director, will represent the organization at the Roadmap 2030 conference on diversity and democratic engagement. The conference is presented by Innoversity and will take place on October 25th and 26th at the Toronto Reference Library.
Those attending the conference will enjoy thought-provoking panels, case studies, workshops and keynote speeches. On October 26th at 9:30 a.m., Giulea will join several panelists from a broad range of community, non-profit, political, and charitable organizations on a panel titled 2030’s Leaders. The panel will discuss the factors that lead to active citizenship and involvement by young Canadians as well as what measures, once implemented, may bolster youth engagement.
“Roadmap 2030 will be an excellent forum for supporters of democratic engagement, youth or otherwise, to come together and discuss the real issues surrounding participatory democracy in Canadian society today,” Giulea stated. “It is the goal of our organization to help deepen the level of civic engagement in Canadian youth and this conference offers an opportunity to spread the word about the work we are doing. It also provides a space to openly discuss the roadblocks youth may face in attempting to become more engaged as well as possible roadmaps towards getting around those issues now and in the future.”
The Société Macdonald-Cartier Society applauds the organizational work of Innoversity in building active citizenship by engaging visible minority, Aboriginal and disability communities. The SMCS is a proud participant of Roadmap 2030 and a strong supporter of the promotion of democratic engagement across Canada.
