2009-2010 Events

Since its creation in Fall 2009, the Société Macdonald-Cartier Society has hosted a total of five events, two small ones in Montreal (Nov 19 and Feb 21), and one each in Ottawa (Dec 7), Toronto (Jan 23) and Calgary (March 20).

We have hosted over 20 prominent Canadians, economists, authors, journalists and politicians that have discussed and debated some of the most important issues facing Canadians in the 21st century.

Here is the list of speakers the Society has hosted:

- Award-Winning author, journalist and businessman Satya Das spoke at our November 19 event in Montreal

- Panelists Dr. John Robson, Gerry Nicholls, Joseph Ben-Ami, Dr. Don Lenihan, and moderator Waller R. Newell, PhD were our guests at our December 7 event in Ottawa

- Keynote speaker Christopher Moore, Panelists Michael Taube, Rory Leishman,
William Gairdner, and moderator Michael Coren were featured at our Toronto event on January 23.

- On February 21, the Society teamed up with MPI (Moving Picture Institute), Free Thinking Filming Society of Ottawa, Centre for Cultural Renewal and Montreal Economic Institute to present the Montreal premiere of ”Indoctrinate Uby Evan Coyne Maloney and a discussion with Peter Stockland

- On March 20, the Society hosted its largest event so far in Calgary, featured not less than ten panelists and two keynote speakers. Featured were Dr. Roger Gibbins and Prof. Tom Flanagan as the opening and closing keynote speakers, respectively. Our panelists were Janet Keeping, Bruce Foster PhD, John Carpay, Todd Hirsch, Richard Truscott, Joseph Quesnel, Joseph K. Woodard PhD, Marcel Latouche, Rob Anderson, MLA, and James Maxim.
